This is my new favourite cafe in Durham! Come here to chat with friends all the time. All the food and drinks I have tried are incredibly delicious and insanely good value as well! Particularly recommend the Sag Chaat crunchy spinach bowl 😍😍😍 I am a huge fan. Thank you UrbanChai!

wow wow wow! I have bewn to Mumbai 12 times and the street food there is so special. never had it recreated as authentically as this anywhere in UK- even london. I will be a regular. vada Pav was perfect! chili roasted perfectly and everything! just so tasty. the attention to detail on flavour and proportions were incredible. great fresh chili and the chicken was all pulled and spiced like home cooked Indian mama woukd make. so hapoy! thank you! xx- Food

The staff are always patient when you can't decide what to try next, very polite with contagious smiles.

I've been numerous times and I do agree with some older reviews that there were severe issues with waiting times. However, this has recently changed, with the time it takes for my usual order down from 25 to 5 minutes. Previously there was a young and awkward girl working the till, and after giving orders to the kitchen she'd just sit on her phone, with the kitchen staff cleaely then taking it easy. Now there's a new much more experienced guy manning it, and he's really keeping them on their toes and making sure food is getting out as fast as possible. Definitely worth a revisit if you've had a bad previous experience.Very good Indian food varieties and quality with lots of ambient space for dine-in. A very good Indian snacking option finally opened in Durham.

The first authentic desi taste restaurant in town . Whatever i tried so far is absolutely delicious. Glad we have urban chai now to enjoy delicious food. I was not a big fan of chai but after trying it i crave for it 🥰

A Wonderful Experience at Urban Chai Restaurant! We recently visited Urban Chai and had an amazing experience! The food was incredibly tasty, and the service was outstanding. This is the best place in Durham for food and coffee, they are the friendliest, most sincere people I have met in this town, which knowing Durham may not sound like much but trust me. It is incredible.

One of my favourite places to eat in Durham! My friends and I love visiting as a treat after classes- really affordable for students and the food is so so good. As a bonus, myself and a few of my friends are vegan- so it’s so nice to have such inclusive options available <3
